A Fun, Autumn Wedding at Dragonfly Wedding Venue

In November 2024, I had the opportunity to photograph my first wedding at Dragonfly Wedding Venue in Herrin, Illinois. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful fall day. The weather was perfect, the trees had gorgeous color left on them and Kelsey and Mitchell’s nuptials was the cherry on top.

After first speaking with Kelsey about her and Mitchell’s wedding, I knew I had to work with them. (I realize I say that about all my couples, but it’s true. I’m big on building that connection!) We bonded over Taylor Swift, a love of breakfast foods, favorite colors, cats, and stingrays. The perfect combo, right? Kelsey told me all about her dream to have breakfast food served at their reception. Specifically, she wanted chicken and waffles with a syrup syringe. Believe me when I say, I’m thrilled she found a caterer who delivered on that.

I could name at least a million and two moments throughout the day that made me smile. From their emotional private vows at sunset to their chaotic “cake cutting” (AKA: a cake piñata filled with shots and candy that ended up breaking from its string. Ultimately, it had to be held at a risky angle for Kelsey and Mitchell to smash. Worth it.) to the temporary tattoos of Mitchell’s face and Kelsey doing the worm: this wedding was as wild as it was beautiful.

I loved the color scheme and every moment that was uniquely them. I haven’t had another wedding like it, and I don’t know if I ever will. Kelsey and Mitchell are one of a kind. They truly brought their style and vibes to their wedding. I wholeheartedly believe that every wedding should be oozing with your personality. This wedding at Dragonfly Wedding Venue was exactly that.

So without further ado, enjoy these moments from Kelsey and Mitchell’s wedding day. Root for the Bears and Yankees in honor of them, and live every day as cool as these two do.
